applications and advantages of the Ultrasonic Ring Welding Process

APPLICATIONS AND ADVANTAGES OF THE ULTRASONIC RING WELDING PROCESS

With the ultrasonic ring welding process circular welds up to a diameter of 90 mm can be produced. The welding times are extremely short and are in the range of hundredths to tenths of a second. Suitable materials are primarily all ductile non-ferrous metals that can be welded to themselves and/ or one another. Ferrous or non-ferrous metals which are coated with aluminium, copper, gold, platinum or nickel can also be welded. The welding of ceramic materials to non-ferrous metals are examples of the many material pairing options.

With this process for example round containers and cans with a lid, without additional seal elements, can achieve helium tight seals. On the one hand no additional seals are necessary and on the other no loose particles are created during welding, the shelflife of chemical and pharmaceutical products can be very greatly extended. In addition virtually no heat is generated during the weld process, so there are no adverse structural changes in either the material, or in the contents of the cans. Furthermore, disposal is simplified, as no different types of materials (seals) are used.
